Scott Downward is an experienced school leader who has led complex educational programs across multiple contexts. Driven by values and purpose, Scott is people-first in his approach. An educational leader with 20 years\u2019 senior leadership experience, his ability to foster respectful, trusting, and positive relationships allows him to build a strong sense of community where students, families and staff are known, valued, and heard.<\/p>\n
Since 2017, Scott has held the position of Head of Teaching and Learning, Secondary Schools at Caulfield Grammar School where he has worked to define the Secondary Schools Teaching and Learning strategy and to drive and embed the principles of the school\u2019s teaching and learning framework. An accomplished mentor and coach, Scott actively supports the growth and capacity building of others and has created a culture that encourages reflection, innovation and evidence-based change.<\/p>\n
Most recently, Scott has led two significant school-wide curriculum transformation projects within the Middle and Senior Schools, as well as provided strategic and operational leadership of the implementation of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) across multiple campuses. Prior to this, Scott was the Head of the Yarra Junction Campus of Caulfield, where he developed and maintained a high performing campus culture and led a restructure that placed a greater emphasis on teaching and learning.<\/p>\n
Before joining Caulfield Grammar School, Scott spent thirteen years at Pembroke Secondary College in a variety of leadership positions including Curriculum, Assessment & Reporting Leader and Curriculum Leader for the Physical, Health and Outdoor Education Learning Area. Significant areas of impact included coordinating a teacher professional development framework and implementing a whole school pastoral care and wellbeing program.<\/p>\n
